thanksgiving laziness got the best of me, but got back out and ran a good WET four this afternoon. seemed like 4 p.m. was when all the weather decided to start coming through and that is when i decided to run. i am currently drying out my shoes now! it was good to be back running.

will attempt a long run of 16 tomorrow. i will do it in the rain if i have to. :)

ok so i didn't run it in the rain yesterday, but only because it was storming! by the time it quit, i had lost the window of time i had for running yesterday so i just decided today was a better option. got up for 16 this morning, but boy do you know when it's not there! i ended up cutting it short to 14, which i hope will be ok! i could have done 16, but it would have been miserable and probably way worse on my body than it should be. i actually had to walk 2 or 3 times today too. not a good day.... not good training at all so far.... hoping for a good turn of luck SOON!

finally feeling normal! yesterday was double spin day, and i had 2 great classes! tonight, finally got back to the track and got in some speedwork. vicki, audrey, and i did 6 x 400. my coach told me to take it easy and not overdo it so i did just that. trust me, i did all i could too. i did the 400's in 1:50 - 1:55. i didn't kill myself, but it was work for sure. i got in a total of 5 miles.

it's great to be back.

went out for 6 miles after work. felt ok, still not able to run as hard as i have, but i'm feeling ok at least. traffic was horrible - cars have no respect for runners!

this morning, taught a moderately difficult spin class. the class wasn't very motivated and it rubbed off on me!

so far, a good week of workouts!

i'm not complaining about the rain this morning cause that sure is a nice way to sleep a little longer. i didn't know when i'd get my run in today until the big boss let us all go after a christmas party. i debated a nap, but thought better and decided to run. right now, just running more than 2 times a week is my focus, so today wasn't necessarily pretty. i did 5 miles from jackson road and it felt ok. pretty cold, but it felt great for running.

headed from there to yoga, but no one made it. either traffic or a canceled class i didn't know about, but it's ok, i'm glad to be home relaxing.

i'm still turning the corner! thanks to ginny, i had a really good 20 miler today. i averaged about 9;18 per mile, but that was stopping it at the water stops. regardless, i felt great about this run. it's not where i want to end up at the end of this training for the marathon, however, it's a lot better than where i've been the last month. i couldn't have done it today without ginny - she's a rock!

i finally had a normal week...yay! i taught 3 spin classes and ran 36 miles. definitely on the way to being back on track.

Way to go Dawn! Way to come back strong. You have 6 weeks which is plenty of time to come all the way back from your illness and get in plenty of quality runs. Things are definitely looking up. Enjoyed the run!

i didn't get a chance to do anything yesterday, BUT i got a lot of christmas shopping done.

today, taught an easy and short spin class, then went out for an easy 5 miles for recovery. felt crappy when i started, but it got a bit better as i went. crossing the fingers for a good week!

looking for a quality run this week. last night, didn't know what the weather was going to do, so vicki and i went out and just ran 5 miles. she was sore and tired from some serious hiking and running in birmingham last weekend so we just tweaked the soreness of out of the legs.

i've had a little lingering stiffness from saturday probably so i'm hoping today i can get in something with some speed or tempo in it today or tomorrow. legs felt great in spin class this morning. recovery is still coming slow after my tough november.

what a difference a few weeks can make. thursday, got in about 6 miles after work in all that cold and wind! it was kinda fun. i ended up taking friday off completely.

got up this morning to do 15 miles. ran from my house and did 2 before meeting vicki. she and i did 8 then i finished up the last 5 with keith. i had a very COLD walk back to my house, but it was a great recovery.

the run started out a bit slow and i felt like i was running harder than i was. finally, around mile 5, we got the pace down to 9:25, from there it went like this 9:16, 9:14, 9:09, 8:58, 8:54, and then with keith, the last 5 were 8:31, 8:39, 8:52, 8:36, and 8:37. i was able to average 9:08 for the 15 miles. all in all, very pleased with today. vicki was a trooper, she was tired and not feeling it, but she forged on and ran right there with me. if it hadn't been for the keith, i wouldn't have had 5 last miles like that. thanks guys!

sunday was a rest day and it was great! yesterday, had to teach twice, but both classes were really easy. the holidays are really taking a hit on my numbers right now (typical) so the less people sometimes means less enthusiasm.

was supposed to do a morning tempo run today, but the weather squashed that. tonight, a christmas party. MUST RESIST the snacks.

so, not much of a week so far.

taught spin this morning - pretty good class, nothing too tough though.

tonight, a great workout. 6 miles total - 1 mile warm up and cool down. 4 x 400, and i didn't time them, but jim thought there were 1:50 range, maybe a second or two under. we finished up with a 1600. we being jim, kily, vicki, and me.

I may run some of the 22 with you Saturday. Kris wants to run 10 so we will probably start at 6:45 at the Gateway and when we are through-if he don't run me in the ground- I may do some more. Tell Jim, he may want to start at 6:45 also.

i'm just waiting on the next setback to happen! just when i start to get stronger, healthier, and back to training pretty well, something else happens. friday, started feeling a bit of inflammation in the tendon on the front of my left ankle. i have had this many times before and it sometimes lasts a while and sometimes a few days.

i felt ready for a good 22 on saturday, but the ankle was not any better and only got worse as i ran. i made it halfway, and i decided i needed to stop as to not make it worse. i also feared if i kept going i wouldn't make it back. i caught a ride back to my car and called it a day. i was happy with my decision to stop, but i got upset and a little worried about how this will affect my training from now until the race.

since then, i taught spin on monday and today, and ran a pretty good 6 miles yesterday and an easy 5 miles today. so far, it's feeling ok. i am taking an anti-inflammatory and icing it when i can. pending how it feels, i might attempt another long run of about 20 this weekend. i am keeping my fingers crossed that i can get back on track! i will be skipping speedwork this week as to not aggrivate it any further. right now, just taking it one day at a time.

again, i have lowered my expectations for the marathon in houston which is about 4 weeks away.

thursday and friday, nothing! i'd like to blame it on doing things for and at my house. at least that's my story.

today, sucked up a 5 mile run (had to walk a couple of times). blaming that on the heat and humidity. i wasn't going for much quality, but just to knock the rust off the legs. tomorrow i will attempt a 20 miler to make up for last week's failed attempt. this will be my last big run before houston. say prayers and cross your fingers!
