Hattiesburg Duathlon, March 28th

Postby SPEEDY on Tue Jan 20, 2009 8:59 pm

In an effort to raise money for the Oak Grove High School Track team there will be a duathlon in Hattiesburg on March 28th. The proposed distances are 2 mile run, 10 mile bike, 2 mile run.

The race is the senior project for Jessica Humpherys. Last year, Jessica finished 4th in the 800 meters at the state meet with a time of 2 minutes and 31 seconds. Jessica has been working hard in trying to gain sponsorships and could use any help in putting on this event. Jessica is also going through the process of getting the race USAT sanctioned and hopes to have the race at the same Heritage location as the Eagleman tri.

We will get information out ASAP, but I wanted to let you all know about the event so you could mark your schedules. FYI, this race is the same day as Azalea Trails, but would be a great way to begin a taper for the Half-Ironman in New Orleans.

Thanks,
Speedy

Date?

Postby jasonbebright on Sun Jan 25, 2009 10:02 am

The date you are talking about is the same as the ATR in Mobile. My wife and I and I'm sure others would like to support your race and cause but the ATR has a long history and most I'm sure have already signed up.So just a thought ,if you could find another date you would most likely draw more people. In fact the next day Sunday looks pretty good,,just a thought.

do the du

Postby Audrey's Little Helper on Mon Jan 26, 2009 1:18 pm

Anyone who is worried about missing the Azalea Trail run, Audrey and I offer this plan: Do the Du and then follow us to New Orleans (Jefferson) for the 24th Annual Ochsner Run @ 5:00 pm with the best After-party of any race. See the link below

No Race

Postby SPEEDY on Tue Feb 24, 2009 1:41 pm

Today I was given the news that Jessica will be moving to Utah next week. So, there will not be a race this year. Hopefully, the track team will be able to plan a Du for next year.

Sorry for the news.
