Runners from Hattiesburg scored big at the 2009 State Games of Mississippi Cross Country Tournament. Kayla Stricker and Chad Moore both brought home Gold Medals.

Entering its eighteenth year, the State Games of Mississippi is a statewide amateur sportsfest patterned after the Olympics for athletes of all ages and abilities. The event kicks off with an Olympic-style Opening Ceremonies, sponsored by AT&T, Friday, June 19.

More than 5000 athletes will compete in 29 sports over four weekends---June 6-7, June 12-14, June 21-22 and June 25-28.

The State Games keeps its entry fees low primarily through the generous donations of sponsors, including Founding Gold Sponsor: Meridian Coca-Cola Bottling Company and Gold Sponsors: AT&T, Chevron/Sign Plant, City of Meridian, Meridian-Lauderdale County Tourism Bureau/Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors, Structural Steel, Comcast Cable, WTOK-TV and WMDN/WGBC-TV.

Entry forms are now available.
