There will be a new triathlon in Hattiesburg this year!
They are working on a web site and flyers but here is the information:

September 27, 2008. Swim 1/3 mile. Bike 16.5 miles. Run 3 miles. It will be held at a new development called HERITAGE, in Lamar county. It is approximately 10 miles from Canebrake, the site of the old Hub City Hustle, for the first 12 years before it was moved to Big Bay. The run course is all new roads within the subdivision. A little shade, flats and hills. The bike course is good blacktop with flats and rolling hills.

Yes, it is true. Multisport/Triathlon is returning to Hattiesburg! The date is now confirmed to be Saturday, October 11, 2008. So, if you did not qualify to race in Kona you can race with us! It will be a 1/3 mile swim, a 16.5 mile bike, and a 3 mile run. When the website and online registration are up and running I will post it so you can get more info and register. Also, for this years innagural event the field will be limited to the first 250 entries. We will feature solo entries, relay teams, Clydesdale, Athena, Fat Tire, and Beginner Divisions. Keep Tri'n!

The registration for the inaguaral HERITAGE EagleMan Triathlon is now up and "running!" Go to racesonline.com and enter the zipcode of 39402 and the race date of October 11, 2008, and it will take you to the registration page. Hey guys, we are just looking for a swimmer to make this year the best (I mean the nicest! it does not have to be the fastest) triathlon co-rec team in town. Let me know if someone is interested!

Best of luck with this race. I am sorry I am not around to compete or to help.
I would encourage anyone who thinks they might be interested in triathlons to help out with this - it is a great way to get a feel for the sport!
