Are any of you running/walking the Mayor's Cup 5K which will be Saturday at 9:00 am in Biloxi? Hollie and I are planning to go. Race information is on the Gulf Coast Running Club web site.

I have run that race twice. It is a nice and fast course. It's going to be a little breezy tomorrow. You will have a lot of fun with the coooold wind hitting you hard the first part of the race

I will be running in Petal in the inaugural Petal Rotary 5K race.

Hollie's Amazing Recovery

Postby ryderruns on Sat Nov 15, 2008 9:10 pm

Today was Hollie's return to race walk competition. What a return it was! He did the Mayor's Cup 5K in Biloxi and placed second in the men's division in a time of 36:28 which is just under a 12 minute mile pace. On April 23 he fell off a ladder and had an open fracture(s) to the ankle area. After having surgery where *12* screws and numerous plates where inserted in the area to repair the damage, he did months and months of rehab. He has made an amazing recovery. Over the past three-four months he has built up to where he is now race walking 5 miles and riding his trike-bike 20-23 miles, alternating days.

I also had a good race, winning the 60-plus AG with a time of 27:07. This
was my fastest time since April/May when I ran in the 26:30-27:00 range.

Other Pacers who competed were:

Leonard Vergunst - Male Master Winner - 17:14
Eric Weill - 50-54 AG Winner - 22:29
Bill Gasparrini - 55-59 AG Winner - 21:10
Ed Wheeler - 55-59 AG Second - 21:11
