Melissa's training thoughts...look out below.

Postby rvncrft72 on Wed Aug 12, 2009 4:58 pm

Ok, I've decided Tuesday took it's toll on the body.

Today: I went for my daily run (or some version there of) 10 wu, 2 x 12/10 and on the last 6 minutes of the 12 I had to stop and walk. :? I"m not sure why, so I'm chalking it up to the 2 miler in the sweltering heat, as my legs are unusually sore today.

I'll try it tomorrow.... Never give up!

Go Melissa goooo!!

I can't believe how small the World is. Until last Tuesday in Trek the Trace event I realized that the new Pine Belt Pacer "Melissa" was the same Melissa I first met many, many, many years ago when she was still a baby. -- GO MELISSA GOOO! Keep the good work!

I also realized last week that my new neighbors were also consumed athletes...... who are they? Well... Sheryl Supergirl Chatfield and hubby Don. Now I can train with them every morning, afternoon, and evening 7-days a week!

In order to provide Raul with an incentive to train, the club recently voted to give Sheryl and Don a housing allowance so they can live near him and supervise his workouts. They have expertise in running, biking, and swimming. They even told me they have so many bikes that they will be glad to lend Raul one so he can do the upcoming Eagleman Tri. There will be no excuses!

Yeah this world is a small one especially when someone remembers the 'little' me...smile. It sounds like Ms. Becky is very excited you have running neighbors, so hope to it. Get back into your training, don't let the money they paid your neighbors to live by you go to waste. Do you prefer I call you Nector or Raul? How's the family? See you Tuesday, correct?!

Ok, I ran yesterday inside on the track yesterday, 10 wu, 2 x 15/10. My right shin is giving me fits for some reason. I had to walk half way through the 1st 15, but managed to do the last 15 without stopping. Karen and I ran into each other, so she set the pace on the first 15, that woman can run. Between my lungs burning and my shin, Karen almost killed me. She's just what I needed to push me, but it's no fun with I can't breath. My goal is to run faster and longer without hurting every where.

I'm sorry Raul. I have been registering exchange students all day and my finger typed the wrong letter and now you have a new nickname "Nector". :P

I still love you though....

Don't worry Melissa! You can call me Nector... Awesome... or ...Sweet. All is good! -- Raul is fine too!

You are doing good with your training! Just keep going. If you have to walk is OK too. For example, during the summer the temperature and humidity kill me. If I run longer than 3 miles, I always have to stop and walk a couple of times before I finish.

See you guys in the races!

Nector

I called and got permission to run at Heritage. My spotter and I get out there at about 8:30, I do my 10 wu then start off on my 26 min 'run'. OMG, half-way through I thought I was going to die right there! Those hills were killing me. I was told there was some flats, well someone needs to show me where because I didn't see any flats.

I managed 2.5 miles in 40 minutes. I just knew I was going to pay for it later in the day or Sunday, but to my surprise, nothing, not even today!

I suppose that says a lot for my training. Thank you Ms. Becky! And the rest of you guys who give of your support so willingly!

Happy Monday!

Ok, I admit, I should be working at this time, but I've had about all my brain can do today, so I'm rambling about my run.

I ran on the track outside the Payne Center at lunch. Geez it was humid, not so much hot because the wind was blowing and the clouds shaded me, but if the sun would have been out and there had been no wind, I would have been inside on the track or tm.

I am trying to do all of my runs outside now. I've learned the tm is good for rainy days and/or steaming hot days. Heck, if I can run in the heat at 5:00, I sure can do it at lunch when it's not so hot.

10 min wu, 2 X 12 min/5 min, 5 cd. I did the 2 12s without stopping this time! 8) I just slowed down a bit and took it easy. Now if I can run the flats tomorrow afternoon at a quicker pace, I will have proved my theory -do the track in front of the PC which has a few good inclines and run it without stopping, then when I run flats I should be able to speed up my pace, decrease my time and increase my mileage. We'll see.

Now watch it rain us out tomorrow since I have a theory to prove.

You are doing great and hanging in there!! You will continue to improve, and then, you will become like Susan, or Kily, or any of those crazy Pacers' who just make running a part of their lifestyle!! I think Susan D. should be called the "iron man woman" while Kily is the "man who hasn't seen a marathon he didn't love". There are truly so many people around us that inspire us to continue on this journey. Keep posting, keep running, and never give up!!

Our building has been a freezer since last Thursday. Something is wrong with the chiller and we can't heat up the place. Now I have myself a nice cold to thank USM for...argh. I work so hard to keep me well and this happens. It effects everything!

Like today, I tried to run, because I didn't get to yesterday, so I had to do it today. It took me 49 mins to do 10 wu, 2 X 12 mins/5 mins, 5 cd. What the #@(U@#&?! I would have been better off staying in the office and taking a nap to help fight this cold off, during lunch than 49 mins. :?

I don't know. When I think I'm making headway, crap happens and I loose time and/or distance. I don't neep this when the OG 5K Saturday. It's wine time I suppose, get those red cells kickin' and in gear. Geez I hate it....

I hope everyone else is having a better running week than I.

i'm sick

Postby rvncrft72 on Thu Aug 20, 2009 2:01 pm

I'm very sick. I need advise plz. Is it okay to run even if I don't feel like it? I feel like I've been hit by an 18 wheeler. Doc gave me a shot, antibiotics, decongestion pills and tylenol for the fever. I'm at home in bed at this exact moment. Just wanted to know if I should at least walk with the 5k Saturday. Thanks. Say lots of prayers.
