OCHSNER IRONMAN 70.3 in NEW ORLEANS - Sunday, April 5, 2009

Postby Raul on Sun Nov 09, 2008 10:54 am

Is anyone planning to participate in the Ochsner Ironman 70.3 in New Orleans on April 15, 2008? I have just seen Dr Pendergrass and Tony Mozingo names in the list of participants. Any other brave people in the area? Where could you find a person crazy enough to swim a 1.2m leg for a relay team?

Good for you Jim!!! You will do great... and don't forget you will be playing local 8)

If you can find in the Pine Belt area another crazy person who enjoys swimming 1.2 miles (I can do it, but I think it would take me around 1 hour and 10-15 minutes), let me know!!! --- I could then talk to Dawn and propose her to make a team in which she bikes, I run, and Jane-John Doe swims. In that way, we can be present in New Orleans and do 2 tasks at the same time. First, to compete in the event and second, to cheer for Tony, Dr Pendergrass, and you.

What about Ben Hughes or one of his friends?? I know he is an excellent triathlon race director!! does he have time to go for a swim in NOLA?

NOLA IronMan 70.3

Ben Hughes is registered for the 70.3 in NOLA. I know I will be competing. But my training between now and then will dictate if I will be racing! Check with race managment to see if I can be the swimmer for your relay team in addition to being an individual competitor. I would just wear 2 timing chips for the swim, then I would pass the relay team chip to the cyclist. Let me know what you find out!

Thanks Ben! I am asking the organizers to dee what is their policy to this respect. I met with Ed Curtis yesterday, and he told me that there is also some website in which one can submit his name to look for relay team partners for the ironman event. Let's see what happens!

:( I really wanted to be part of the Ochsner Ironman 70.3 in New Orleans on April 5 but could not find a crazy swimmer in South Mississippi for a team... not in the PBP Club, neither in the GCRC, the YMCA, USM or the Hub Fins Club. Generally, If someone can swim well, he/she will be able to do the whole 3 events together! -- The registration for the Ironman NOLA officially closes this Sunday at midnight, and I will have to give up my plans of participating!!! :x

Well...I will have to punctually attend Mass that Sunday with not excuses!
