Pearl River Ramble

Postby rockola on Wed Sep 10, 2008 11:56 am

Received an email from a Laura Ousset, Race Chairman for the Pearl River Ramble in Henleyfield. She stated that the race date was November 8th and that a 5K was being added to the format. Is the PBP administering this race again this year?

Administering the race

Postby ryderruns on Wed Sep 10, 2008 3:49 pm

I have not recently spoken with Laura, but it is my understanding that the Pacers will help in the same capacity as we did last year.

This is a race that is a *MUST DO* It is very well organized, the course is beautiful, the awards are very nice and they provide a pancake breakfast after the race. Put it on your calendar!

Ditto to what Becky said!! It really was a beautiful (and hilly) run!! I rarely notice my surroundings when I run, but couldn't help myself with this one!! The pancakes were yummy and there was a small festival afterwards.

A Must Do Race

Postby ryderruns on Tue Oct 07, 2008 9:52 am

I wanted to get this back to the top so as to remind all of you to consider doing this event. As previously written, this is very well organized, with nice awards, beautiful rolling hills and a pancake breakfast provided to all entrants. This year they also plan to have a 5K, but I have no idea about the course for that distance. If you think you can make the distance, do the 10K---the scenery is worth it.

Yep, yep, yep! Audrey and Becky are right! It is a very well organized race with a beautiful scenery. We had a small crowd last year, maybe 22 people; however, everyone finished under one hour. Can you believe it? First time, I have seen that awesome performance for all participants in a 10K race. Look at the race report from last year's race -->

See you guys in Henleyfield!

Postby ryderruns on Mon Oct 27, 2008 12:10 pm

I wanted to get this topic back to the top so as to remind all of you that this is such a great race. Raul wrote about what fast times there were last year, with everyone finishing under an hour. I may be the one to prevent that from happening this year, but if I can run as well as I did last Saturday, I think I can get under an hour. Come on out and join us.

Anyone interested in car pooling?

I'm In

Postby ryderruns on Sun Nov 02, 2008 1:48 pm

After today's 7 mile run, I decided that I will do the 10K race. We talked about car pooling. I know Audrey and Raul will be going. You two are welcome to go with us. We will need to take the clock and timer (Audrey now has those). Raul will be in charge of scoring so we will need the finish board and score sheet. Where is it? I will print out the finish labels.

I'll also talk to the RD about how they intend to manage the 5K which will be run this year. I'll let you know how that will work.

Who else is doing this event?

Audrey -we do have room for the clock. Do you want to bring it to the track tomorrow or wait and bring it on Saturday? Will you just leave your car at our house? Since the race starts at 8:00 am, we should leave our house no later than 6:00 am. Earlier will probably be better.

I will be there too! I am not sure whether I carpool with you guys or go with a friend from the USM Biological Department, Laura, who is a newbie in the running activity. I will let you know guys tomorrow what I will do for sure.

Are you guys taking the finish board with you? Where is it now?

I am assuming that Keith has the board as he has the trailer right now. I will bring the clock to Thames tomorrow. Becky, I will drive to your house and leave my car there that morning. I will get there whatever time you would like. See everyone tomorrow!!
