6 miles before work this morning, 4 of those with Vicki. I took it easy to recover a little before Saturday's 22. Tonight, weather pending, I will go to spin class then do some stretching. If it's just storming too bad, I'll probably go home and rest.

22 miles in 3:08:46! I did the first 12 miles with Keith, which was such a big help. He helped me to get off to a great start today. After we finished, I ran a mile before meeting Kily for my last 9. He was also a huge help to help me finish that last bit and stay so strong and hold on to the pace. My average pace was 8:35, which blows my mind!

Luckily, this is my last super long run before New Orleans in a few weeks. I've really been feeling the burn out so I'm thankful to be on the downhill slide.

Thanks Keith and Kily!

45 minute spin class, with an additional 15 minutes of biking to complete a full hour. Followed that with some stretching to get the last few kinks out after the 22.

Took it a little easy tonight to try to recover from a sore throat as well.

5 miles with Sarah and Vicki before work. I was HURTING a little. Combine the sore throat and 22 miles on Saturday...tough go of it this morning. Not sure about tonight after work...depends on how I feel overall.

40 minutes on the bike this morning, but nothing tonight. Letting this cold get the better of me, and going for some rest. Will try to get back out and run in the morning.

Felt better so I did 7 miles this morning before work. If I'm still feeling ok, I will run with Track on Tap tonight after work.

This hasn't been a very good week. I'm guessing it was because of the cold that I just struggled. I did 14 miles today on the Trace, and they were pretty tough. I forgot to start my Garmin back when I headed back for the last 4 and didn't realize it until almost a mile later. Just as well that I didn't keep up with total time and average pace because it was a letdown.

Hopefully I can kick the rest of this feeling back and have a good taper.

Based on your run last weekend, IMO, you are in great shape to race. There isn't enough time to make much change in your physical ability (plus OR minus) during these few weeks so the key, (again IMO) is to keep yourself psychologically healthy (confident). Getting sick at this point in the process is not great but it far better than having a cold hit next week or the week after.

I am hesitant to predict a PR because I don't want to 'jinx' you, but I think things are going just right. You don't want to use all of your best miles in training anyway - I would just try to be a little less focused on pace in every workout (easy for me to say), get in enough fast miles here and there to stay confident and feel sharp, and relax (ha, ha, ha). You are going to have a great race!

Sheryl, thanks for your words of encouragement. I appreciate your interested in my training as well! I'm very excited about the possibilites at this marathon.

I started the week off pretty good today with a solid 7 miles. My legs felt better, and I didn't feel quite as listless. I really enjoyed the cool, clear air as well. 5 miles were with Sarah and 4 with Vicki.

Tonight, I will teach spin and do some good stretching.

There is a good example of how peoples' perceptions differ. I would describe yesterday morning's air not as "cool, clear" but as "frigidly chilly," and a real adjustment after running Saturday in warm and almost sticky humidity.

At any rate, I hope you have good weather, however you define it, on the 24th!

Taught my third spin class of the week this morning, and then did 6 miles after work with Vicki. It was a nice, easy run. I will do one more hard workout tomorrow night after work.

Last hard run before the marathon next week. The workout was a 1 mile warmup, then 4 x 1600m with 800m jogs in between and a 1 mile cooldown. Vicki joined me for 3 of the 1600's. Our first 1600 was 7:49, the second was 7:43, the third was 7:45, and my last one was 7:30. I can't explain the speed of that one, but it was possibly because for some reason Vicki and I thought the third one was 8 minutes so maybe I didn't want to have another one slow.

Anyway, it was a great workout, and I'm glad my last hard one for a week or so. Now I can recover!
