....well, maybe eventually.
After a few weeks of delay (unexpected dental work) and a longer journey than originally planned (trying to avoid Hurricane Fay), we are settled in Lake Worth, Florida. I had a few solid weeks of running in Oxford, Mississippi where I was able to run on a nice rubberized track, get in some hill work, and find some flat places, too. Now that I am in southeast Florida, I have my choice of running on flat roads, on flat mutli-use trail, or at one of two locations with soft surface running (that is also mostly flat). I have not (to date) found an available track close to where I live.
Still, running is better than biking here - the main cycling route, A1A along the coast is a lot like the LongLeaf Trace - if the Trace was flatter, had car traffic and an ocean view. People go up and down it - there is an easy 28 mile round trip from home for me that dead ends into the Palm Beach inlet, and a longer version I haven't tried yet that requires a few more turns.
I am very fortunate for the second time in my life to have a lap pool to swim in at the same location where I work. It is an outdoor pool and has a cooling system in use during the summer to try to keep the water at a comfortable level. Sometimes it seems to work, and sometimes it is pretty warm.
At any rate, I am gearing up for a half marathon in mid-November, and at the risk of jinxing myself, have had some thoughts of posting my training efforts. Starting tomorrow. Maybe.
