Trace on Tap - Tues. Sept. 23 5:30 pm

Postby Ginny on Wed Sep 17, 2008 3:41 pm

Tues. Sept 23rd we have decided to get off of the track and do a "Trace on Tap" run. It will begin at 5:30 pm at the USM Gateway. We will jog to various local establishments for the beverage of your choice. We are hoping to attract some of our regulars (like Keith, etc.) that haven't made it to the track lately, but will be enticed to make it for a cold beverage.

Count me in if the doc will let me. Having the left achilles checked out on the coast at 2:50 PM Tuesday, if not I might drive from spot to spot.

Do you have more details (i.e. how long, specific stops, etc.)?

Maybe some of the more experienced "track on tappers" will respond, but if I remember correctly, I think we normally run 2-4 miles. We run for a little while, then stop at a location, and get a beverage, then we run to another establishment. For this one, I am sure we will go to Mugshots and possibly the End Zone, etc. In the past we have stopped by Cucos, Nicks, and other places down Hardy St. It is never really planned, just whatever the group decides on that day. (you do not have to drink alcohol if that's not your thing) No one will be left behind so feel free to join us no matter what your running pace is. Hope this helps.

Count me in.

For those of you who have never done a Track-On-Tap you really need to come out and give it a try. This is a "no-drop" run, so it doesn't matter how fast you are... its all for fun. You don't even need to drink beer. I don't think I had a beer until my third run. Heck, I saw someone once drink a glass of wine (although I believe that is against TOT rules).

If we are really lucky, Kily "Runner's World" Garcia will be there to sign autographs.

Just a quick FYI, as is typical with me, my schedule has changed and I may be out of town for the Tues. run. If I make it back in time, I will be there, if not, you guys have a great time and drink one for Chad and me.

The Best

Postby kily on Wed Sep 24, 2008 9:34 am

For me, this has been one of the best Track on Tap ever. Not just because we get together to have fun with our fellow runners, or the 6 miles @ good pace (this was the longest distance in TonT), or the stories we heard during the run, or the fact that we keep inspiring people around Hattiesburg (either to run or drink…or both). The adventure of not knowing where to go in the beginning. The experience of running a couple of miles, some yards ahead of Terry Lawhead, Jeff Hawthorn and Keith Barret…(it is hard this to happen in a 5K) BUT…The best at the end was eating that huge delicious burger as a reward, without feeling guilty of calories consumption...
...If you really want to have fun and release all that stress after work, join us the next time and run with us some miles on Track on Tap, drinking is always optional.
