5-person Relay Marathon

Postby Raul on Tue Sep 30, 2008 9:45 pm

I promise I won't make a lot of noise on this topic this time! :lol:
I am just testing the water! Would be anyone interested in participating in one of the following marathon relay competitions that will take place in the South in a couple of months?
The Pine Belt Pacers have placed very high in a couple of these events in the past, and PBP team members have had a great time.
Just think about it and enjoy the experience. :wink:

First Light

Postby ryderruns on Tue Sep 30, 2008 10:14 pm

I think the Pacers should try to have a really fast coed team and go for the win. I volunteer to serve as driver (if Terry will be on the team and risk his van).

Although I don't qualify for a fast relay, I might be interested in a Blues Relay team. Maybe a fast team and a slow team if we can get enough interest. Of course this will depend on my marathon training for Houston, but I think I would be able to work in a 5-6 mile tempo run.

Kelton and I both would be interested in the Mobile and Jackson relays. We are no where close to most of the other Pacers super fast time since we are really just getting back to running after Kaley. But would really be interested in running the legs WITHOUT the big hills. hee hee
Seriously, I hope by January we are both back to running more and this would really be something to look forward too. Lots of fun!

Anyway - if there are faster pacers wanting to run just put us down as drivers. I did this last year at Mobile, AL so would be a little more experienced this year.

Let us know.

Andy says he is interested also in Mobile and Jackson.

So far so good! we have the following pacers for potential teams

Blues Marathon
~~~~~~~~~~
1. Ginny Dufrene
2. Keith Barrett
3. Kelton Turner
4. Christy Turner
5. Andrew Maxwell
6. Nestor Raul Anzola
For those people going to Houston the following weekend, this event would make a great 5m tempo run.
First Light Marathon
~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Kelton Turner
2. Christy Turner
3. Andrew Maxwell
4. Nestor Raul Anzola

Anyone else?

Becky, I lost me address book from my USM e-mail. Could you please send the original message to the other pacers through the e-mail to check whether there are more people "ready" for a team? Some PBP members don't check the forum. Thanks!

Nestor,

I would like to be on a team for the Blues marathon, but I will not be available for the First Light relay.

Thanks,
Terry

Thanks Terry for being part of the team!

We have a complete team for the First Light Maraton and may have 2 for the Blues Marathon -->

First Light Marathon team: 1. Kelton Turner 2. Christy Turner 3. Andrew Maxwell 4. Neil Solomon, and 5. Nestor Raul Anzola

For the Blues Marathon, if we can find 2 more runners, we could complete a very fast team and a fun team. (Keith, could you contact Jeff Hathorn, Robin Ryder, Jim Coll, or any other fast fellow runner who maybe interested in the team competition?)

Temptatively, the teams would be as follows (we just exchange members from one team to the other depending on who else join us, whether we want to have both team corec or one all-male, etc, etc)

Team A: 1. Terry Lawhead, 2. Keith Barrett, 3. Neil Solomon

Team B. 1. Ginny Dufrene , 2. Andrew Maxwell, 3. Nestor Raul Anzola, 4. Kily Garcia , 5. Deborah Barrett

As I said before... team members will change according to our list and interests.

Audrey and/or I, might be available for the First Light Marathon.

Hey Charles, that would be great!!!! With your participation, we would complete the 2 teams rosters!! Well... if Ginny does not go to Jackson, we could look for a replacement. :wink:

What about the following club teams for the Blues Marathon? (for now):

Team A: 1. Terry Lawhead, 2. Keith Barrett, 3. Neil Solomon, 4. Kily Garcia, 5. Charles Jackson

Team B. 1. Andrew Maxwell, 2. Nestor Raul Anzola, 3. Audrey Jackson, 4. Deborah Barrett, 5. Ginny Dufrene or Sarah Palin or someone else.

If you would like both club teams to be Coed, we can move one of the girls to team A. Let me know. I think I will register the teams next week.

The team for the First Light Marathon stays the same -->
1. Kelton Turner 2. Christy Turner 3. Andrew Maxwell 4. Neil Solomon, and 5. Nestor Raul Anzola

Although I haven't received 100% confirmation that the Steam Whistle race is on for 2009, I think that Tony will likely have the race. I am going to opt to run it instead of The Blues. Sarah Palin will make an excellent sub. and I think she has actually run a marathon if I am not mistaking.

OK Ginny! I will look for a replacement. I talked with Sarah on Monday, and she said that as she got her goal of finishing a marathon under 4 hour (3:59:36) three years ago in Anchorage, AK, now she is more interested in reaching something bigger. I don't know what she means! Anyway, she won't be in the Pacers team either. :roll:

We are in "official talks" with Jeff Hathorn and James Daniel. If one of them (or both) joins the club teams, I will be registering the squads for the event next week. I will contact everyone before I submit the final team rosters.

Keep running... for your life!
