Audrey's Island Training

Well, I had grand aspirations of running while I was on vacation 2x/day. The weather was between 70 and 84 degrees the whole time we were there. The first run I did was around 3.6 miles and I almost passed out from the heat. I ran in the morning, and it was just, well, hot!! I ran most everyday, the most around 6 miles, and never adjusted well to the heat. Charles handled the heat much better than I did, which was unusual, as I used to be a hot weather runner. The course we ran was along the ocean, so it was beautiful, but very flat. After we ran, we jumped into the ocean, which was cool this time of year, so it was like Ginny's ice baths. (Well, maybe not as cold)!! Anyway, with everything going on, a once a day run was all I could manage. While on vacation, my piriformis was tender, but not too bad. Then, I get home, attacked my hills on the first run, and now I can barely walk. I went to my first yoga class tonight after several months, and I am hoping Kelly can cure me in time to run Sunday

I think I gained 555 pounds from all the island food. Everyone eats all the time, and it is so good!! I ate turtle, conch (raw, stewed, etc.), breadfruit (my fave), and every fish you can imagine (barracuda is now my favorite).

I am back, and I look forward to seeing all of you. As soon as I can walk without hurting, I am going to start training hard for something!! I am going to run in Mobile this weekend, but I don't think it will be very "special".
Catch you on the run!! Audrey
