Tempo Run

Postby Ginny on Fri Jan 09, 2009 9:12 am

I have another tempo run on Sat. It will be on the trail. I need to do 1 mile w/u, 6 miles tempo @ 8:00-8:10 pace, and 1 mile c/d. It will be around 8:00, but I am flexible about that. Let me know.

Ok - the weather doesn't seem to want to cooperate again. I might switch to Sunday depending on what the weather report is tonight. Let me know if Sunday works for anyone.

Ginny, I have an alternate plan for you. Why don't you come to Mobile and run my 5 mile leg in the relay? I am going regardless, but I am not going to be able to run better than a 9 min. pace, (maybe). I tried to run tonight and I had some really horrible shooting pains in my buttocks, and I had to stop and just walk. You can get your run in and save me from doing further damage. (nothing like a little pressure)! Anyway, just consider it!! You can ride up with us Saturday night and spend the night with us, or I know you can catch a ride with Nestor Sunday morning early!!

HHhhhmmm - I thinking about it. Since you are planning to go anyway, I will let you know on Sat. I can stay at my Mom's if I decide to go.

Great!! If you do decide to run my part, I can help with logistics of getting people from point A to point B. If you decide not to do it, it is ok, I will "limp" through the run. I am going to try and run or go with Charles to the Y tomorrow and do something. Missed you at Kelly's yoga class!! I actually feel a lot less pain just from doing that one class. When I had this problem before with my piriformis, it disappeared when I was doing Yoga consistently. I haven't been stretching, doing yoga, or wearing my shoe inserts. I am getting too old to make silly mistakes with running. I know what works, I can't afford to be lazy and take short cuts. Anyway, hope you can come to Mobile whether you choose to run my part or not!! It is always good to see you!!

Ok Audrey - first, how are you feeling today after your workout?

This is the deal, if you have any desire to run your leg of the race, I would prefer that you go ahead. If you really do not want to run it for fear of further damage, I will go and run it in your place. Also, I would strictly be running my tempo pace around 8:00, I would not be "racing." Want to make sure "the team" is aware of that.

I guess that you have already checked to make sure it's ok to use a substitute???

If you want me to run it, let me know the details, meeting spot, time, etc.

No for Audrey

Postby ryderruns on Sat Jan 10, 2009 9:50 am

Audrey's coach says that under no circumstances should she run this race, no matter how slowly she says she will do it. I think this would be a great way for Ginny to get her planned tempo run. Audrey will make a great driver for the team.

OK I agree with Audrey's coach advice! 8) -- Audrey, get a rest, don't hurt your... and please drive us everywhere!

Ginny, don't worry about what the other team members think about your pace. We are all having fun, so it does not matter whether someone runs 12 or 6 minutes/mile pace. Anyway, you will be faster than us! :D
See you all tomorrow morning in Mobile! I have not run a single inch this week or done any other cross-training activity, but I think my calf is fine now (I hope!). Let's see what happens during the marathon.

Ginny, if you can, that would be great. If not, don't worry about it, I will do what I can. As far as checking if a sub was ok, nope, did not check, just thought since it would not affect my "professional runner" status, it did not matter if you ran as me. It does not bother me, but if it makes you uncomfortable, I understand. I will stretch good today, and hopefully either way, it will be ok. Let me know.
