I can't find any info on this other than the date. The links to it just take you in circles. Can anyone tell me the lenght of the run? Thanks, J.R.

I just checked the USM Recreational Sports website and they have a link to the Run For Love registration form.

The race is scheduled for February 28th with race day registration beginning at 8:00 AM and the race beginning at 9:00 AM. The race will begin and end at the Long Leaf Trace Gateway. The form doesn't say, but the distance has been a 5k in the past (3.1 miles).

I went to the Run for Love this morning. I was surprised with the amount of people who were present for the race, around 100 participants, including many, many, many Pine Belt Pacers. The Pacers rock! They attended in great number (maybe 40-50) this last minute race. I had not seen so many club members together in an event in a while. We could have had an official club meeting after the race!!

Pine Belt Pacer Jeff Forever-Young Hathorn was the overall winner in 17 minutes. Many of the Pacers placed in their age groups! In the women's race it seems that the categories were constricted to the 20 to 35 age group. Thus, we saw our young goodlooking girls: Kelly, Ginny, Audrey, Vicki, Becky, etc collect some awards. There were many more good looking club members who I hope we captured in the pictures. We will post them later today or tomorrow. In the ugly-side, the men categories, Terry, Neil, Ed Curtis, and other pacers got some awards too.

Now be ready for the coming events, the Mississippi 50 next week and then the St Thomas 5K the following one!

I forgot! Audrey and Charles placed second overall in the couples category. It was also great to see Donna Sumrall, Jennifer Torres, and Susan Davidson back in the races. Well.. and also was nice to chat with several new club nembers and a lot of the old club dinosaurs! :D

Run for Love Times

Postby ryderruns on Mon Mar 02, 2009 10:41 pm

I wish the results that are on the website were correct. As for my times, it is off by about a minute. It has me doing 26:19 when my actual time was 27:24. Anyone know who compiled the results so that we can try to get this straight?

I went back and looked at the results to see who else was in Category 9 - "More Lovin'" and saw that my time was listed as 37:19 in Category 5. There is a picture of me by the finish line clock showing 40:23. Only saw one other in Category 9, a male, which would make me #1 Female in that category. Hey . . . . . . . where's my prize?! :x

It would appear that there are 2 extra 17:xx times in the mix and this has shifted the published results. If I go down two places I get my correct time for James Daniel at 19:18 (not 17:58 - I wish). I did this for a couple of other runners and it is consistant (I saw Anthony Stricker finish in 19:15 not 17:56 and Neil Solomon finish in 19:59 not 19:19 and Brad Ward finish in 23:22 not 22:29).

It was a great race - very fast.

Becky -
These are the results that someone in the rec sports dept emailed to me, so I'm assuming they were compiled by the dude that was there with the laptop, maybe?

There are several things here that are not correct....my time was 33 minutes not 32 and Kelton isn't even on here but turned in his little sticky finishing around 24:??

I would bet he isn't the only one left off the list which is probably why our times aren't correct.

Thanks,
Christy

Results

Postby ryderruns on Tue Mar 03, 2009 10:34 am

I have emailed the guy who was doing the results for Run for Love, offering to take the finish tape and labels and try to make the corrections to the results. We'll see if he gets back to me.

Terry will have a lot of fun gattering the names and numbers for the Grand Prix standings!! -- In addition of what it has been said so far, there are a couple of additionla little things to take account when gathering the Pacers names and points:

- Jesse and Joey "Jannell" are in fact "JARRELL". Both are Pine Belt Pacers. Therefore, Jess gets 10 points in the open category while Joey adds 10 pts in the open and masters groups.

- Kelton Turner ran the 5K (it gives him 10 points in the open category)

- Eric Weill ran the 5K (+ another 9 miles). He also gets the 10 points in the open, masters, and grand masters categories.

****
and not related to grand prix...

- Fourth place overall went to Mike Thrailkill from Meridian

- My time was not 31:39. In fact, it was 13:39!! - it is the new "Colombian in Hattiesburg" record for the distance.

Run For Love

Postby Neonwolfen on Tue Mar 03, 2009 10:45 pm

And don't forget that Tinker was there too!!!

One of these days I will get a little more bold and talk to ya'll ...
but knowing I'm a newbie and quite shy around people - well, it isn't
easy

Besides I am not even in the same league with most of ya'll. However,
I did enjoy the run.

Thanks ... and hope to see ya'll again soon

Keep in mind, that even though there are many levels and abilities of runners, most people are competing against themselves to improve there personal abilities.

Also, many times "newbies" inspire and keep the "oldies" motivated. So forget about times, paces, etc. Most of us just enjoy being around others who share a common goal of running to get in shape, to lose weight, to feel better, or whatever, etc. I personally always enjoy hearing what others are doing with their training, etc.

If you show up and participate that's what it's all about.
