Becky, I talked to my team captain from the Biggest Loser competition at FGH last night and she said she has been in contact with you and is going to join PBP. Her name is Kristin, and she went to Thames on Tuesday night. I have been meaning to ask you if I could put out some membership forms or information brochures at the LiveWell Center and Intervent (on Arlington). There are a lot of people participating in the Biggest Loser who are new to running and/or would benefit from club membership.

I think that is great that so many of the group are running. Maybe they will keep at it and continue with the 5K training program which begins in mid June. I think it's a great idea to put out the membership forms and encourage them to join the club.

Do we have a stockpile of forms or brochures or would I need to print them from the internet?

just letting you guys know that there are a few of the people from the WDAM show that have become runners and joined PBP. A good friend of mine JR Carter lost over 40lbs on the program, and ran the "my first 5k". He has done a few 5k's and has also signed up with me to run the Disney half marathon in Jan 2010. Check out his blog www.bigmanrun.blogspot.com

He is trying really hard and your support would be great!

Glad to "see' so many new faces in the group and walking, running, biking, and having a good time: Bigman, Tinker, Chris, etc, etc. Welcome all! - Keep the good work!
I hope I can meet you guys in the races. I am very bad with names and faces (never wear my glasses), so if you see me in one of the events, just come and say hello! I am that Hispanic guy present in most of the local races with the very funny and "almost-impossible-to-understand" accent.

A couple of motivational running quotas for everyone:

1. "You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement."
- Steve Prefontaine

2. "In running, it doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say, 'I have finished.' There is a lot of satisfaction in that."
-Fred Lebow

3. "The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start."
-John Bingham

4. "Don't bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself."
--William Faulkner

5. Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss it you will land among the stars.
- Les Brow

I will definately introdue myself at the next event that I am at. I got into this running stuff about a year ago now because of an old professor that I had at USM that talked me into it. Some of you might know him, jerry worley, great runner and teacher. I recently completed the mardi gras half in 1:49:18 pr! Not too bad for my first half. This has totally motivated me to do more! Been training for a few sprint tri's and starting training for my first full marathon "st jude" this year. PBP seems to be a good thing here in Hattiesburg. I love the encouragement that you people give all of us. Especially us new runners!

See you on a run, say hi, I am the short little guy always running or biking in some kind of sothern miss gear!

1:49:18 for your first half-marathon? Man, you will fly in a couple of months. Congratulations!
Yes, we remember Jerry! he is a great guy. By the way, where is he running now? After he finished his PhD at USM, I lost track of him.

Jerry is teaching at Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He has been there since the fall; previously he was at Mercer. I spoke with him 6 or so weeks ago; it sounds like he is doing well. Still running for sure.

Jerry is definately still running. I actually spoke with him last week to get training advice for marathon training. He is a very motivational person. I met a few of you guys at Jerry's house during his wedding when I was still a student at USM but you probably dont remember me. I use to think you all were crazy doing all of these marathons, but now i know how it feels to be a runner and get that runner's high. I am so glad that I finally decided to join you all, it has definately been life changing.
