In a previous topic, someone posted that perhaps the club is no longer having the group runs that are listed on the website and in the newspaper. If that is the case, we need to revise the information that is available to the public.
I do know that thanks to Audrey and Wicki the Tuesday speed sessions are ongoing and those will continue throughout the year. I was under the impression that the Sunday morning runs were still happening. I'm not sure if there ever was a Saturday morning group meeting regularly at 6:30 am as is sometimes mentioned in the HA.
Please let me know if I am correct on this. Below is what we have on the website. Let me know what revisions need to be made. If you would like to be responsible for regular group runs, I think that there is an interest in this. If there are a couple of you who regularly run at a certain time and place and you're willing to commit to leading the run, we can change the website to reflect this. The problem is that if we have these runs listed and people are visiting Hattiesburg, we need to be sure we carry out what we advertise, so it is a commitment.
I'm going to get on my soap box for a rant (there is a reason some of you refer to me as Boss Ryder)---there are a lot of people who make lots of suggestions on what the club should be doing, but there are not many who step forward to implement these ideas. The club consists of about 250 people, with less than 25 who are active and regularly participating/leading club activities. If you want the club to do something, volunteer to lead whatever it is that you want done.
Here's what's on the website:
Group Runs:
Sunday mornings at 06:30 AM starting from the USM Gateway to the Longleaf Trace. 6+ miles at 8-9 minute pace. No one is dropped on these runs except Running Bear.
Please visit the Pacer forum, where individuals post information regarding training and provide information about small group runs. The day and time, as well as distance and pace will vary depending upon training goals and race schedules of those involved.
Tuesday Track each Tuesday evening 5:30 pm at the Thames School track. Free coaching, encouraging, picking. Contact Becky Ryder for details.
