Nestor, get off the hard surfaces!! Hit the trails!! Too much pounding if you run the Trace all the time. Get some good Mizunos!! Keith, you are too cool for school!! You must have that texting thing down to an art, with all those abbreviations/short cuts!! This is way too much fun!! Thanks for all the dialogue!!
Catch you on the run!! Audrey

Race Walking = Shin Splints (for Raul)

Postby ryderruns on Fri Apr 17, 2009 9:15 pm

Am I not correct that the your last bout with shin splints was after a race walk? I know that you are quite good with that, but a little training might prevent getting those from your twice a year race effort.

Becky you are 100% right. I just run (walk) stupid. I never ever walk while training. Then once a year I go to one of these events and start walking fast as someone was trying to kill me! Of course, a couple of muscle strains, pulls or tears at the end. For the records, it has happened in the last 3 race walks I have participated in 2 years. Maybe I am just getting rusty! hehe.

I won't make Thames speed tonight. All of you regulars who attend, if you see someone lost and looking around for assistance (a newcomer to Thames), please introduce yourself and help guide them through a workout!! Becky, or Vicki will probably be there, but just in case.
Later,

Tuesday, May 19

Postby ryderruns on Tue May 19, 2009 9:15 am

I think that Audrey and several others will be doing the out of town 10K race tonight and will not be at Thames. Although I won't be doing speed, I do plan on being there and running at least 4 miles.

I plan to be at Thames Track tonight just doing my own thing until we start the 5K training on June 16. I am still preparing for the half-marathon which is about 3 weeks away and getting my mileage in.
