Hobble Then Gobble

Postby Audrey's Little Helper on Wed Oct 07, 2009 10:36 am

Dear Running Peeps,

Plans are now underway for the Hobble Then Gobble Race, held on Thanksgiving Day. The registration forms will be out shortly! Please start recruiting sponsors now! Joni Dunbar has completed this years Race Logo (the best yet!).

Many sponsors are needed. Last year we had the following sponsors:

Hood Industries
Spiers Chiropractic along with Center/SF Spiers Fitness/Weight Loss and Yoga Center
Soccer Locker and City Runners
Coca-Cola Company
Oak Grove Dentistry
Always in Stitches
Shuckers Oyster Bar
Jen Torres Sculpture Studios
Twice the Ice
Bops Frozen Custard
1st Call Heating and Air
Healing Touch
Hattiesburg Bicycle Center
Mississippi Tank Company – I have confirmed that they will be a sponsor for 2009 (Frozen Turkeys)

I would ask each one of you to attempt to help retain the above sponsor while recruiting more sponsors for this year’s event. Remember all net proceeds will benefit THE ARC this year.

Anyone willing to help with sponsorship or to be a race Volunteer, can contact Audrey or myself via the Forum or emailing AudreyJackson@hotmail.com or call me, Audrey Little Helper @ 601-297-5197. She also has a facebook account so you can use that too.

As always, thanks in advance for all you hard work
Later,

The Flyer is now available on-line (thank you James "Ironman" daniel). I need people to print these out and distribute throughout Hattiesburg and beyond! Some suggestions below:

YMCA
Payne Center
Anatomies
...etc, etc!

Please update this Forum as you disseminate these flyers, so duplication can be avoided.

thanks again

Time is getting short. Thanks to everyone who has already contributed to Hobble/Gobble. Christy, thanks for all your promotional work for this race. Joni, thanks for a super logo! James, Charles, and Terri, thanks for the course! I know I am missing some folks, sorry, but I won't forget you, cuz it takes a lot of people to get this thing rolling. Now, I need the rest of you to roll up your sleeves. We need course monitors, someone to distribute flyers, someone to make signs for the hiway for the race, we need some registration people to help Deborah, we need people to stuff bags on the 22nd, we need people at Soccer Locker Wed. 4 to 7 for packet pickup and late registration, course setup and breakdown/cleanup on the day of the race, someone to purchase snacks Wed. before the race, (Becky what about your contact with the grocery)? We need sponsors! We need them if at all possible by November 2. So, if you have contacts, please get busy. This is a charity event, so we need money. Jodi is working on this, and Charles and I are working on the sponsors from last year. Write me back, pick something above and realize that we need you, the club needs you!! Remember, this is a good cause and a good race. Let's make this a spectacular event that everyone from miles around will want to attend. Thanks in advance,
Catch you on the run!! Audrey

I will take care of the post race snacks. E and B Grocery will provide these. For Labor Day we had energy/snack bars and they can again provide these. Or, they can give us cookies or whatever else they have. It's a situation of you never know what they will have at any given time. Let me know what you want me to look for and I'll see what I can get. I do know they will give us whatever we ask (within reason). If you've never shopped there, you need to do so. They are very friendly people and they have great bargains on surplus foods. The Hattiesburg store is located on Hiway 42. If you shop there, be sure and thank them for their support of our events.

I will also contact the Hattiesburg Bicycle Shop regarding their sponsorship. Jodie has asked me to send you sponsorship proposals. I did not do so; do any of you need these? If so, I can email to you.

Thanks Becky. Also, we will need whatever logo or ad. that they would like on the shirt for sponsorship. I am redoing the cover letter for sponsorship to personalize it for Hobble/Gobble. I will have it available by tomorrow. (Just waiting on some additional info, then will have it finished). Ginny needs all sponsorship info by November 2nd for shirts. I know businesses are struggling like the rest of us, but the South is known for it's generosity in the hardest of times. All we have to do is ask.

The logo for E and B is the same as the one that was on the Labor Day shirts.

If the flyers have not been distributed to the various gyms, I can help with that. Does someone have copies printed, or do I need to go to Office Depot or somewhere to do that? Also, how do I get a copy of the flyer? I can not open .ppt files, so I would need it in another version. Let me know.

The club has a printer that is here at my house and I can make whatever number of copies of the entry that we need. I'll bring a bunch to Thames tomorrow and if anyone else needs copies, contact me on how to get them. I'll take a bunch to the Family Y.

Thanks Becky! If you can bring some to Thames, I will do Anatomies, Spiers Fitness, The Yoga Room. I will also try to stop by some of the other gyms that I pass by on the West side of town. If some of the campus people or Payne Center users can do that one, that would be great. If not, I will do it too. Please post if anyone can drop some at the Payne Center.

I won't be participating in this race as I'll be out of town but I'll run off some copies to take to the Payne Center.

I have delivered registration forms to the following:
Anytime Fitness 98,
Snap Fitness - off Hardy St.,
Spiers Fitness
Pure Fitness - hwy 98
Wesley Fitness Center.
I tried to deliver to NHB 24/7, but no office personal was there, doors are locked.
Amber is delivering to Anatomies for us.

If I go to one of the other 5ks, other than Ellisville, I have a few forms left that I will drop off.

Also 1st Call Heating & Air will be a sponsor again this year.

What time is the packet stuffing party on Sunday, 11/22? And what do I need to bring, besides my charisma?
