Thank you for the advise you two.

I finally dug out my SAS' (my old woman shoes I bought after I had foot surgery in 2005), put my orthodicts in (from the podiatrist), and I have had minimal, if any, pain today. The sport inserts I put in my running shoes are ones I use depending on my knee (those aren't from my podiatrist), they aren't anything new, nor do they make my shoe tighter and I've never had a problem with them, so....

I just broke down at lunch and ordered me another pair of shoes (wide width), so I'll see if that makes a difference, as my SAS' are wide width and I've never had a wide running shoe, maybe it will help, maybe it won't. I can always send them back if they are too wide.

I'm running that race Saturday if it kills me. Laugh!

...as tomorrow draw nearer I find myself having butterflies about the 10K. What is up with that? I didn't have those when I ran my first 5K.

I don't expect this to be an 'easy' run, but hopefully I'll finish with my glass 1/2 full as opposed to 1/2 empty.

I need lots of prayers sent up on my behalf. :)

You guys are the best!

Good morning everyone! Just wanted to update all on my progress of the 10K race Saturday downtown.

The results are probably very shameful, but for me, I was very happy and excited that I finished and didn't have to call for help (or crawl). I finished in 1:19:53. I ran and walked as I had planned. It was a good course and the volunteers was very nice and encouraging. And it was fun to see people sitting outside cheering us on. It made the long run worth it! One of the volunteers sent us the wrong way and it shorten the distance by .68 miles. I think they should give them arrow reading directions, laugh. Being this was the 1st Annual race, I let it go and enjoyed the route. If the truth be known, my body didn't object to losing out on the .68 miles. It was 100% better than staring at the same trees on the Trace. Granted, I love the Trace, but there are only so many races one can stand and I've done quite a few on it here lately. I think there was a learning curve for those who hosted the walk/run and next year I expect it will be even better. I'll definitely do the next one, as I enjoyed this one.

I especially loved the fact Abe was there with his students from Healing Touch. Man they kept me from hurting Sunday, it was amazing. They were so good that I went home and vaccummed out my car, washed it, came in took a shower, watched a few mins of NCAAF and then cleaned up my room. It was either the adrenalyn, the spark juice I drink from the rep, or the massage, but I had the most energy after that race. Sunday, however, I went to church, then came home, ate, and started watching football and slept for about 2 hours straight, I suppose I was tired from the race after all...laugh.

And thanks for all the prayers you guys sent up, I definitely wouldn't have been able to do it without those.

Congrats on the race Melissa. Sounds like everything went just perfect. Glad that the pain wasn't anything real bad. And guess what you finished only about 1 minute slower than my first 10K time. You go girl!! Hope to see you Thursday morning if it is not raining from IDA or any thing else disastarous happens. OBTW! Do you want to carpool to work tomorrow so that you can go to speed work at Thames?

LAUGH! It wasn't a full 10K, one of the volunteers cheated us out of .68 miles, so it was actually 5.54 miles. I figured another .68 miles would've put me in btwn 1:25 and 1:30, either way, I had fun.

Thursday is a definite go, barring 'anything else disastarous". Laugh.

You would do that for me (carpool) so I could go to Thames? That's too nice, smile. Sure, I'll find me a place to put my car and you can pick me up somewhere in Sumrall. Any suggestions?

My new Saucony ProGrid 2 walked in the door a few minutes ago. I have them on and I think the wide width is going to fix the toes hurting and going numb. I think my foot likes it... :D .

I'll see those who make it to Thames tomorrow. Karen is going to drive me, yeah for Karen.

Bad news...the wide width didn't work. The minute I started walking fast my foot started to hurt. It was some 26 mins later before it was numb and I could only feel about 1/2 the pain. Needless to say, the first thing I did this morning is call Dr. Rhee, maybe she can shed some light on my problem. I see her next Wednesday, so for now, I deal with the pain.

I started out to do my 45 mins, but only made 35 mins. I just couldn't run with the foot hurting.

I'll be at Thames tonight, if anyone has any numbing cream, plz bring it. I'll pay you for it.

Karen and I met bright and early, well technically it was dark and early, this morning and she ran a bit over 3.13 miles and I walk/ran 3.13 miles, all in 42 mins and some odd secs. :)

I realized this morning that all my body part problems has really hurt what progress I was making. The last time K and I ran the 3.13 miles I actually did it in 35 or 36 mins and some change. I couldn't do that this morning. The foot was hurting, yes again, and though I tried something new, it didn't work. In my medical opinion, , the foot continues to hurt because I haven't let the nerve(s) heal (?) so it continues to hurt. I think the pain is becoming less and less (as I wear my orthodics and my old women shoes, or either I'm just becoming use to the pain - I hope it's not the latter.

Anyway, I'll rest tomorrow and see everyone Saturday for the 65 lap drill, then to a baby shower, then home to clean up the mess my daddy and his help is going to make taking off our chimney (argh).

I must give kuddos for Karen, as she's been so understanding and patient as I work the ailments out, so we can get back to seriously running. Thank you Karen, I really appreciate it!

Goodness, this weekend was like a whirlwind! And I was caught in the middle.... I made the baby shower, but didn't make the fish fry. I was so sad, but I had a hard time staying awake on the way home from the baby shower. I knew I'd never make it there or back without giving into my eyelids.

Saturday, at the track, was a blast! Everyone participated in the 65 min run/walk. I managed 4.25 miles, and would've easily doubled that if my dang foot hadn't started acting like a nenny. I have never been so ready to see a doctor than I am now (about my foot). I'm going to postpone Tuesday's run to Wednesday or Friday, in hopes I'll be able to do it without pain. I'll just walk or do an easy run for 30 mins.

Everyone say a prayer that the problem can be fixed without surgery. Surgery isn't an option at this point. I'm still dealing with issues for the last foot surgery (in 2005).

Who has a birthday next? I like these birthday runs...smile.

I just returned from the podiatrist and it's bad new, and more bad news. It's Morton's Neuroma, and apparently mine is so inflamed that she had to give me 3 shots, told me to come back for another round in 2 weeks and another round after that in 2 weeks. If the shots don't work, she will go in and remove the nerve. GOD!!!!!! Could anything else happen???????????????? I'm so upset right now. I almost got up and RAN out of her office when she told me no running for two weeks, to stay off my foot. She's see my next visit if I could run again. I just want to cry!!!!!

So being I'm sidelined for the next two weeks at least, I'm available to volunteer, so don't forget about me when you guys need help.

The only light at the end of the tunnel, she told me I could swim and bike (after Friday), but she'd prefer the swimming, so I didn't use the ball of my foot.

I'm just sick to death about this.......

Long sigh...yesterday was a challenge, finding out I couldn't run, etc, etc. I spent all day and all night trying to figure out what to do. I'm not a great swimmer, but I can bike, although it will only be on the weekends because it gets dark at 5:00. A co-worker, and friend, brought me her 10 Minute Solution Slim & Sculpt Pilates, so I'm going to start out with twice a week with pilates, up my yoga to three times a week, do pool laps three times a week, and Saturday ride my bike. My joints don't tolerate weights well at all due to the arthritis, I always end up injuring myself regardless of how much instruction I receive or how little weight I use. I think I've done enuf of that here lately. I'm tired of hurting....

I'm still not happy about not being able to run. I feel like I'm doing me a big injustice, both physically and mentally, by listening to the doctor, but in all honesty I know she's right (dang). I suppose I could also use this 'down time' to work on my dissertation, yuck.

...so now I wait, 13 days and counting.... Hopefully, if I obey and be good to my foot, I'll be able to start back running when I see her again, I'm crossing my fingers and toes.

Thanks for everyone's ear, shoulder, and prayers.

Good morning everyone! I must confess that I haven't done the first thing since my foot doctor visit. I just can't seem to find the motivation to do anything. I just want to run! ...that's all I want to do. My foot is feeling tons better and I started to wear a heel (about an inch high) as we have Chinese visitors coming in today, but I heard Coach say "no heels, never" so I ditched them for my shoes I've been wearing that make my feet happy. Maybe they won't look down at my shoes....

I'm not sleeping again at night and one of the reasons is lack of exercising. I tell myself I'm going to do my yoga or pliates when I get home, but I get home, take care of the animals, and hit the recliner or bed (to read) and sulk over not being able to run. I know I'm being a child about it, but I don't want to do anything other than run. You get the picture now...run, run, run....

Somehow in all of this doing nothing I've lost 3 lbs. Someone wanna explain that? I'm not complaining, but....

And with all the holidays here at hand, I need to be doing something, anything...the holidays depress me, so I have to find motivation some how and snap out of it, I can't allow all these issues come crashing down on me all at once...I'll eat myself into oblivion.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Foot report (for those following my foot saga):

Saw the doc again, got shot again, and she told me in no uncertain terms, no running. She told me to bring my running shoes my next appt (in 2 weeks), and she'd modify the insoles. I took that as a good thing, meaning I get to start running again in a few weeks (crossing my fingers).

Saw Coach last night, and she told me to try the elliptical, which I'll try at lunch Friday. I hate to start all over again with my running. Between Coach and Karen, they had me up to 35/37 min 5Ks, a feat considering all the mechnical problems. Oh well, can't change what's happened, gotta move forward....

So with any luck and lots of prayers (pray hard everyone), I'll be able to start running again just as we get off for Christmas break. Woohoo!

Until then...tally hoo....
