Another week of training! one less week to train!!

During the weekend I ran 4 miles on Saturday (including a 5K run) and 11 miles on Sunday. I also had the opportunity to swim a little bit in the ocean. I had forgotten how easy (not fast) was to swim in sea water. I felt good!

My week went as follows:

Mon: 4 m running (5K Run, Labor Your Legs 5K, 21:40)
Tue: OFF
Wed: 14 m bike (spinning class)
Thu: 4 m running, 1m rowing
Fri: 10 m bike (hilly course)
Sat: 4 m running (5K Run, Hurricane 5K, 21:35), 1/2 m swimming
Sun: Long Run, 11 miles in Dauphin Island, 1/2 m swimming

I ran my second 20-milers on Saturday (one more to go!). I did fine. The weather was cooler, and I didn't feel any problem at all in my "engine." Cool!
What it called my attention yesterday was the fact that almost nobody was running or riding his/her bicycle early that day. From 5:30 to 6:55am I did not see any single soul around, and had all the trail to myself. Finally, around 7:00am I met Robin Ryder close to Jackson Road. He was there ready to train with the school kids in some trails around the area. A couple of minutes later I crossed my way with Mr Phantastic, Andrew Maxwell, who was doing a 10-milers run. Then I spent a couple of hours running alone and seing just a few folks along the road. This morning I went to the Trace again for a slow and easy 5-mile run.

Just 6 more weeks to go!!! My week went as follows:

Mon: 5K rowing
Tue: 4m running, 1.25m rowing
Wed: 15m bike at spinning class
Thu: 4m running, 1m rowing
Fri: 13m bike at spinning class
Sat: Long run: 20 miles at the Trace
Sun: Run 5 miles at the Trace

The Spirit of Laziness came by!

Postby Raul on Sun Sep 23, 2007 10:23 am

Early this week I was possessed really bad by the Spirit of Laziness!

On Monday, I woke up late and then decided just to do a 5k easy rowing workout (who wanted to run? No way!!) On Tuesday? the same thing.... I didn't run in the morning as I was supposed to. Then after the 2-mile predicted time event in the afternoon and since I was already at the trail, I fought shortly with the Spirit and went for a really, really, really slow 4-mile run. Wednesday? any exercise? noooo way! just took it off! What about Thursday? noooooo! let's sleep another 30 minutes! I took it off too!

I finally kicked the Laziness guy on Friday! That day I went for a "15-mile ride" in the spinning class at the YMCA. Yesterday I ran 7 miles including a 5K race (21:52), and today I ran 10 miles at the Trace where I saw several Pacers doing their workout: Keith Barrett, David Beckett, Steve Phillips, John Pendergrass, Johh Harsh, Terry Lawhead, and Mike Barnes.

Let's see what happens this coming week. I hope the Spirit of Perseverance and his sisters Commitment and Endurance wake up soon!

Another good weekend goes! Yesterday, I ran my last long run, a 21-miler in the Trace. I ran them with Kily Marathon-a-Month Garcia. Jim Ford ran with us the first 12 miles. He is coming back to the marathon training from a muscle/nerve injury in his butt (look at his posts). Everyone did great! We averaged 7:12 minutes/mile pace for the first 20 miles. Don't you believe it???? :? --- Well... you are right! Don't believe me. We ran in fact in a pace 2 minutes slower than that  -- I felt very good until mile 19.5, then I struggled pretty bad for a while. I hope it does not happen the same in the real race. Now, I am glad because it is over, and I don't have to do anymore of those crazy loooooong runs in my life. I have to do 10 miles next week, 6 the following and then race day!!! Welcome to Taperville!

This morning ai did a 5-mile recovery run in the trace. I started at 11am, and it was pretty warm (hot!) and humid! Anyway, I survived!

My week went as follows:

Mon: 8m bike hilly course
Tue: 4m running, 1.25 rowing
Wed: 7m bike hilly course
Thu: 4m running, 1.25 rowing
Fri: 5K rowing
Sat: Long run, 21 miles
Sun: 5 miles run at the Trace

Two more weeks to go! yeahh!!
I did my long run (12m) this morning. What a great weather!... temperature between 48-52ºF and sunny conditions. I ran fast (I guess it looks like one of those things you call Tempo) and did not feel tired as it happened in the previous couple of weeks.
Yesterday, I participated in the Over the River Run in Vicksburg, MS. I did not run; I walked. I finished in 29:57, placed third overall and won the Masters division. Cool!
< http://www.mstrackclub.com/Results/2007 ... verRun.htm > -- Now, I am ready for my last 2 weeks before the MCM. I hope I can stay healthy and without injuries!!!

Wed: 7m bike hilly course
Thu: 4m running, 1.25 rowing

There was nothing special about this week... maybe that I am getting more and more days OFF during the 7 days period.

If I wake up "too late" or have to do anything else early morning, I have to call that day off or just do some type of very quick exercise to be able to finish by 7am. After 7am from Monday to Friday, there is not way I do anything else related to fitness (maybe just to walk from building to building in campus).

Anyway.... my week went as follows:

Mon: 7m bike hilly course
Tue: 3m running
Wed: OFF
Thu: 4m running
Fri: OFF
Sat: Long run, 14.5 miles (including Half marathon in Madison, 1:50:11)
Sun: OFF
