RRCA Mississippi State Representative

Postby ryderruns on Tue Aug 04, 2009 10:19 pm

Hello Mississippi Running Clubs,

Let me introduce myself to you – I’m the RRCA Southern Region Director, and formerly the RRCA North Carolina State Rep. One of my tasks as Southern Region Director is to fill State Rep vacancies, and presently we have one in Mississippi. I am hoping that by reaching out to running clubs and race directors in the state, I will find the right individual for this position.

I’m looking for someone residing in MS who is enthusiastic, a “people person”, and very involved in the running community. The person doesn’t have to be a fast runner, but it would be a plus if he/she has some experience with club and/or race management. The State Rep position is nonpaid, i.e. a volunteer job, but offers a few “perks” such as subsidized travel to the Annual RRCA Conventions. It is also a wonderful opportunity to stay involved in the running community, learn a few new things, and last but not the least to make some new friends!

If you think you may be interested in this position yourself, or know someone else who might be, please let me know and we can chat some more. I can then give some more detail what is actually involved, and answer any questions that you (or the person) may have.

For more information about the RRCA, our State Reps, and programs, go to www.rrca.org.

Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

I did this a couple of years ago and went to several conventions which were very informative and fun events. Then, the guy who was Southern District Director expected me to do way more than I thought the position involved. We had a "dispute" and I resigned. He is no longer the Director. I think you would enjoy the assignment. I would suggest that you contact the person who wrote the reqruitment message and discuss the job description.
