Run/ Walk 30 Minutes a Day for 100 Days

Any topic related to running

Postby Ginny on Wed Feb 18, 2009 12:06 pm

Feb 9th- Feb 15th
Monday - 30 min
Tues 62 min
Wed. 30 min
Thurs. - 42 min
Fri - 30 min
Sat. - 35 min
Sun. - 114 min.

Becky - Sorry for your illness, hope you are feeling better soon.
Tinker - way to keep the challenge going. In the past, I have struggled through a few myself.
Audrey - I think the challenge was for 30 minutes of exercise a day. If it's all running - I'm out too. I do 30 minutes a day, but for me, it can be walking, running, biking.

Re: My Streak is Over

Once I "upchucked" enough to get rid of whatever was causing the problem, I started having chills, headache, and total body muscle soreness. I'm diagnosing this as food poisoning....

Hi Becky, sorry to hear you had to quit. I hope you are feeling much better now. You are probably in that 25% of people who are stroke by food poisoning during the year. Look at the following article -->

Food poisoning strikes 1 in 4 Americans each year

You Go Girl!

Postby ryderruns on Tue Mar 10, 2009 6:49 pm

Way to go! You are still in the challenge. Regretfully, I had to bail out a couple of weeks ago when I was down and out with intestinal issues.

I really do think the fact that I made it as far as I did provided me with a good training base. I am now able to train using the four components that work for me---speed, distance, recovery and rest.

I think there are a couple of lurkers who are also still in the challenge. Hopefully, we will hear from them at the end of the 100 days.

Yep still lurking around

Postby Neonwolfen on Mon Mar 16, 2009 9:23 am

Ms. Becky,

I am still managing to hang in there at day 75!!!
I told my life partner I am committed - I thinks
she thinks I may need to be COMMITTED!!!

And I kind-of like being called a "lurker" ...

Thanks for the challenge,

75 Days

Postby ryderruns on Mon Mar 16, 2009 9:37 am

75 days is a *long* time. I think there are now three people---Ginny, you and another lurker who are still with the challenge. It certainly is a commitment to keep this streak going. I know that there have probably been days when it was difficult to continue since "life" has a way of getting in the way.

I am very proud of those who are still with the challenge, even though I had to bail out early. I feel that the streak that I had gave me a very good base for training and becuase I was running slower, I may have helped myslef over some chonic aches and pains.

I'm back to my usual program of running 5-6 days a week and beginning to get back some speed.

Becky, Even though you had to get out of the challenge because of issues out of your control, your "year-a-round" and "year to year' commitment to exercise is something that everyone appreciates.

Tinker (Joe) - way to go. We are on the home stretch now. Hang in there! :)

Are We There Yet?

Postby Neonwolfen on Mon Mar 30, 2009 2:11 pm

Ms. Ryder ...

This "lurker" is in the game ... despite broken ribs, a dog bite and some nasty weather last week - still pushing along. Ms. Becky, thanks for the example you set and the challenge!!!

Ms. Ginny - if you read this - I have never spoken to you, but you are awesome! My feeble efforts don't even come close to compare with yours, but maybe one day! Thanks for the encouragement!!!

Animals

Postby ryderruns on Mon Mar 30, 2009 7:36 pm

What's the deal with you people and encounters with animals? Two deer run into Susan's car and now you have a dog bite. Did it happen while running?

I am so proud that you and Ginny and one more person who wants to remain a lurker are still in the effort. I want to try this again next year. Maybe the gastro-intestinal bug will stay away.

Good luck with making the 100 days.

Hello Joe - First, it's Ginny, not Ms. Ginny. 2nd - Thanks for the compliments, and 3rd - WOW! Your efforts are to be commended and your efforts are not feeble in any shape, fashion or form. You have accomplished the same thing that I have so far, which is to get out the door and get the 30 minutes in, one way or the other. In fact, you have had to endure some serious challenges that I, thankfully, haven't encountered.

I hope to meet you sometime soon. I would love to chat with you about some of your recent hurdles and accomplishments.

Keep it up - we are almost to the 100 day mark.
