SPRING DASH 5K RUN/WALK MARCH 21

Postby InvisibleGirl » Tue Feb 03, 2009 9:07 pm

I've been asked to Mentor a sweet and very smart OG HS Senior, Andrea Maxwell, with her senior project. She has chosen to organize a 5K RUN/WALK.

Sat, March 21
8am
The Longleaf Trace (USM Gateway)
- a tentative location until I "confirm" our reservations next week with the secretary who is on vacation all this week.

Wanted to go ahead and post something here on the forum so you can mark your calendars. All proceeds will go to benefit Children with muscular dystrophy.

Andrea is working hard to make this a 5K to remember and I believe it will be alot of fun. We'll also be contacting a few of you PACERS to help the day of the run to make this a great success.

More Information and Entry Form will come soon!

Thanks,
Christy Turner

Contact MDA

Be sure to contact the Mississippi MDA office. I don't have the number; just go to their web page. They will probably provide you with some MDA items that can be used as awards or door prizes.

Permits

Postby ryderruns » Wed Feb 18, 2009 6:38 pm

Raul mentioned permits. You do need to get a permit from the Trace office. If you plan to use the pavilion, there is a fee for use.

Also, be sure and send the information to Elmer so that he can put it on the upcoming events of the website.

just moving this to the top

Postby InvisibleGirl » Wed Mar 04, 2009 9:50 am

I must confess that I'm not usually a runner who PRE-REGISTERS but I'm working hard to get better at this as I've realized just how much it helps those putting on the run.

PLEASE ~ if you are planning to do the SPRING DASH 5K RUN/WALK on March 21st that Andrea (and I) are working so hard to get together for her senior project, WE WOULD GRATEFULLY APPRECIATE you sending your registration on in ASAP! Not to mention, you get a little discount if you do this before March 11th.

All proceeds go to MDA. Please tell your friends and family. This is a RUN/WALK so encourage others to join in. Andrea is working hard to make this an extra FUN event for all.

Questions? Give me a call at 601-297-4296

OK, if this post disappears again, I will slit my wrists. Anyway, in a nutshell, I am writing to just encourage everyone to pre register. It makes race directors crazy when they think no one is going to run their race. (Been there, half crazy anyway, but don't need a shove over the cliff). I am bad not to pre register, just because life happens etc. However, this is for a good cause. You are helping out an Oak Grove student, and a charity. So, even if something happens and you can't make it, this is going for a good cause. So, I thought I would push this to the top, and encourage all of you to send in your entries. Come on, if the Run for Love can get 100 entries, without any effort, this race surely deserves all of our participation!!
Catch you on the run!! Audrey

Thanks Audrey ~ I am getting a few entries in the mail but would LOVE to see many more. PLEASE SEND YOUR PRE REGISTRATION IN FOR THE SRPING DASH 5K.

Andrea is designing the shirts and they really look great so far! Got a neat, catchy phrase on the back. She, well WE, are working hard to make this race one to remember.

Thanks to all in advance who have already dropped those entries in the mail
