Who was there?

Postby ryderruns on Thu Mar 05, 2009 2:59 pm

Susan mentioned that one of the Biggest Loser participants was at Tuesday track. How about a report from one of you who was there? Since I've been helping Robin with the OG track team, I have been unable to attend but I do like reading about who was there and what you did.

I'm not sure what everybody else did but I saw Vicky, Dawn, Ginny, Audrey, Kily and Eric there. I do not know how many miles Kily ran but he was running when I got there and then joined me for my workout. I did 12X200, avg 7:45 pace, with 1 mile warm up and cool down. It was a very enjoyable run with Kily's help.

Dawn, Audrey and I ran 4 400s at an 8 min. pace - I think. I think Ginny did 200s. Terry suggested that we do the 400s slower than usual due to the 20K trail run tomorrow. I stopped after the 1 mile cool down, but the younger runners kept going. I'm listening to my more mature body, just like Becky suggests!

There were 2 new runners there and we gave them suggestions. They seemed to enjoy it and plan to return. I didn't know one of them was a Biggest Loser participant. Becky, we need you back at the track!

I trained at Thames Track on Tuesday Night.

My plan was 4 x 400. Dawn suggested recovery between which helped out a lot (thank you Dawn). So I ended up doing the following:

1 x 400 walk
2 x 400 wu/jog
4 x 400 with 400 recover between (walked 3 and jogged 1)
2 x 400 walk cd.

I also got to run a couple of laps with Killy who also gave excellent advice about my breathing and helped me speed up for 100 yards of my last 400 pretty cool to know that I can actually push my pace a little more.

I enjoyed talking to Kristin and her friend. I looked for last years 5K training to give them my copy to help them but I could not find it. If anyone still has it somewhere I think that will be a great help for them.

Will there be anyone at Thames tomorrow? I think Audrey and I will be at T on T and Vicki is out of town.

T on T will be much more fun than doing a track workiout.

Wrong

Postby ryderruns on Mon Mar 16, 2009 9:24 pm

Mike is wrong! I'm the one buying him a drink, but only if he agrees to run slowly enough that I'm not totally left behind by the rest of the group.

Weather

Postby ryderruns on Tue Mar 24, 2009 9:50 am

I think I'm going to try to get on out and do my speed before the rain comes. If it's not raining at 5:30, I'll drop by just to check in.

I am still feeling jet lagged, but unless "there comes a flood", I will be there!! Ginny, what is your speed plan this week? Until I find a race and training plan, I will borrow yours.

My workout

Postby ryderruns on Tue Apr 07, 2009 2:49 pm

As usual, I will not be at Thames tonight. Oak Grove has a track meet. I did my workout earlier today and I challenge the rest of you to do this same workout.

1 mile WU
12 x 200 @ sub 5K race pace with 100 jog recovery (no walking)
1 mile CD

It wasn't that difficult, once I got going. In fact the last 6 were faster than the first 6 with an average of 1:04 which is a sub 27 for the 5K. That's what I'm aiming for on Saturday.

I won't be at Thames tonight either. Both of my girls are leaving at O-dark-thirty in the morning and we're having a special family dinner. I think we'll have to leave for the NO airport at 4:00 a.m. Ewwwwwww!
