Tuesday Track

Postby ryderruns on Mon Dec 01, 2008 8:52 pm

Now that we have completed the Hobble Gobble training program and the race is over, Tuesday track will continue at 5:30 pm at Thames. Come on out and join your fellow Pacers as there will be a variety of speed workouts taking place, depending upon who is there and what they are training for. Tomorrow I will be there and I'll probably be doing 400s.

Wimp!

Postby ryderruns on Tue Dec 02, 2008 10:04 pm

I was a wimp and ran on the TM at the Y. Just when I thought my cold was gone, the symptoms were worse today.

It's nice to know that some of the usual group showed up. How about a report?

You know how you feel after you have a really bad run or race and you just don't know how that first run back is going to feel? You know how you just don't have confidence and wonder if you will be able to run at all? OK, maybe that is just my thinking. Anyway, I was concerned. I told Vicki that I have not run since Stennis. (She reminded me that actually, that was only two days ago). I did not really feel like running at all but thought if I had some support, I could get back in the saddle. I layered up, (it was brutally cold), and put on a hat and gloves. Dawn, Vicki and Terri were alrealdy warming up when Charles and I got there. I did the final two laps warm up, then Vicki, Dawn and I did 6x400 with jog between ea. Charles and Terri did 800's. Dee came a little later and said she had not run since before Thanksgiving, so she was just trying to get some lap time. I did not try to kill myself (like I usually do on these speed workouts), but it was a good workout. I really only felt like doing 4, but we let Dawn persuade us to do 6. All in all, a good workout, and with all my layers on, I was comfortable.

Becky, I am ready for a 1/2 marathon training plan. It is time to train and get some direction and some goals. I pretty much have the breathing problems licked and feel I am strong enough now to be disciplined and push my body. For so long, I would say from April till up about a month ago, I was just trying to just "run" after being so sick this spring. My body is healed, my lungs are good to go, so it is time to quit messing around and just see what I can do. I will get with you soon. I was thinking of doing a half in Feb. Then the trail run in March. I will try to catch up with you between your trips!

Becky,
You forgot an option in the poll about the favorite speed workout...
Which one? .... * "I am too lazy, I don't like speed workout"
Add one point for that option!

Raul:

Actually, I tried to include the "no speed" option, but somehow it did not show. I'm sure if it had been included, it would be the leading vote.

Weather

Postby ryderruns on Tue Dec 09, 2008 10:53 am

The weather predicted for tonight is not good. Since I'm not doing speed, I plan to work out during the day and go to Tate's program tonight. We will be going to Atlanta on Friday and will be gone about a week so the next time I might be at the track will be Dec 23. All of you speedsters will just have to carry on without me. Have fun!

I rushed home and did my speed work out in front of my house so if the weather busted loose, I could make it home. If someone made it out to Thames, let us know what and how you did!!

If anyone goes on Tuesday December 16. Let me know. I'm still not good at the pacing and speed stuff yet but am willing to learn.

Karen and others - I hope to be at Thames at 5:30. (if nothing comes up)
Looking forward to it, and feeling the need for some speed work. "Let's do it!"

Sorry I missed the speed work out. I have a nasty, yucky, cold, and I am trying to keep it from developing into something else. Anyway, post something and let us know how and what you did!!

When I arrrived at the track, Karen was already walking to warm-up. We walked a couple of laps and then we decided to get started. Later Jim and Mike made it. Karen ran 400s, Jim, Mike and I ran 800s.

Thanks Ginny for the tips. I felt great when I completed my 400s still need to work on picking up the pace a little at the time but I'm sure that it will get there.

Hope to see everyone next Tuesday night.

Although I don't plan to do speed, I do plan to be at the track tomorrow for a 3-4 mile run. Anyone else going to make it?

I will be there. Also, I need to try to catch up with you to give you your shirt and also get a real training program going. I will call you and maybe we can meet sometime before Thames. Also, Dee, I have your shirt, and Mike Graham, yours too, so if you come tomorrow I will bring those. See ya there!!
