You know how you feel after you have a really bad run or race and you just don't know how that first run back is going to feel? You know how you just don't have confidence and wonder if you will be able to run at all? OK, maybe that is just my thinking. Anyway, I was concerned. I told Vicki that I have not run since Stennis. (She reminded me that actually, that was only two days ago). I did not really feel like running at all but thought if I had some support, I could get back in the saddle. I layered up, (it was brutally cold), and put on a hat and gloves. Dawn, Vicki and Terri were alrealdy warming up when Charles and I got there. I did the final two laps warm up, then Vicki, Dawn and I did 6x400 with jog between ea. Charles and Terri did 800's. Dee came a little later and said she had not run since before Thanksgiving, so she was just trying to get some lap time. I did not try to kill myself (like I usually do on these speed workouts), but it was a good workout. I really only felt like doing 4, but we let Dawn persuade us to do 6. All in all, a good workout, and with all my layers on, I was comfortable.
Becky, I am ready for a 1/2 marathon training plan. It is time to train and get some direction and some goals. I pretty much have the breathing problems licked and feel I am strong enough now to be disciplined and push my body. For so long, I would say from April till up about a month ago, I was just trying to just "run" after being so sick this spring. My body is healed, my lungs are good to go, so it is time to quit messing around and just see what I can do. I will get with you soon. I was thinking of doing a half in Feb. Then the trail run in March. I will try to catch up with you between your trips!
