As Ginny, I tend to train (and/or run) for distance races during the fall and winter. I had planned to finish my "distance race calendar" with the participation in the Half Mardi Gras Marathon last Sunday. However, I am physically, mentally and emotionally feeling so well and confident that I may try to run a whole marathon soon, and that's it! - NO more racing for a while!
I may be too optimistic, but I believe I will do OK this time. If I can keep a steady pace for the first 13.1m of the course... first, I will avoid hitting the wall in the last miles, and second, I think I can run the remaining 13.1m one minute slower per mile in average than the first one. My Math skills may be wrong, but it looks like the following scenario is possible:
- If I manage to run the first half in 1:52, I could do the second half in 2:05-2:06..... breaking at the end the 4 hour mark!
- If I run around 1:46 the first 13.1m, I would run 1:59-2:00 the second, crossing the finish line in 3:45-3:46!! (maybe I am just nuts!!).
- What if it's cold, and I have a great running day? 1:40-1:42?

Mmmmm... I am just daydreaming about a memorable and unforgettable performance.
Coach Ryder, what do you think about it?
